Abstract

Dr. Arias secured three consecutive major grants (landmark achievement) from (FIPSE) the Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education in order to create BESTNET (Binational English & Spanish Telecommunications Network) in a partnership with DEC (Digital Equipment Corporation) and the Western Behavioral Sciences Institute. Upon the onset of the Internet, Dr. Arias collaborated with senior engineers from ARPANET (precursor to the Internet) to perform human factor analysis leading to new online pedagogies and research behaviors.
