About
Dr. Doug Smith is a semi-retired Professor in the Department of Applied Environmental Science. Doug’s research areas include dam-related river processes, wildfire-mediated geomorphic processes, coastal erosion hazards in Monterey, the dynamics of Monterey Submarine Canyon, and the tectonic evolution of Baja California. His watershed science work focuses on the environmental sustainability at the intersection of water, dirt, people, and fish. Doug’s typical tools include drone photogrammetry and other precise survey technology to quantify annual and catastrophe-driven landscape change.
